30 years of Eudi Show
It was 1992 when, for the first time in Italian history, Assosub appeared at the Verona fair presenting an event, the Eudi Show, European Dive Show. It was a small event that covered just over a thousand square meters of exhibition space. The Salone della Subacquea was a great success in that October edition from which, without knowing it, the seed of an event destined to arrive to today would germinate.
The success of that edition pushed, in the years to follow, to renew the choice of Verona and the space occupied tripled in the space of three editions From 1996 to 2001 the event moved to the BolognaFiere venue and was a great success reaching 9,000 square meters of exhibition space in 2001.
The great growth was also achieved thanks to the entry of large companies in the sector in 2000, the year in which the event, detached from sport fishing (with which it had taken place at the same time until then), moved the exhibition date from November to March (reason why the 1999 edition was skipped). It was precisely the need to maintain the new dates (not available for those years at the Bologna venue) combined with the philosophy of creating a sort of traveling fair, which guided the decision of the Assosub board to return to the Verona venue for another two editions. In 2004, Genoa was declared European Capital of Culture and, since much of the Genoese tradition and culture are based on the sea, Eudi Show, to best honor the city, moved the event to the Fiera del Mare. A great return and a great success.
After a first edition in 1995 in Rome (between the first editions in Verona and Bologna), Eudi Show returned to the capital, this time to the new location of the Fiera di Roma in Fiumicino, in 2004. The Show took place in the wider context of the Big Blu event, with which the new location of the fair was inaugurated. An extraordinary success of the three Roman editions with over 100,000 visitors in total. In 2010, Eudi Show returned to Bologna by virtue of a new agreement between Confisub and Assosub that reunited the sector.
An arrival in Bologna that was a bit of a return to the origins with the simultaneous holding of the Salone della Pesca Sportiva. After this interlude, Eudi Show held two editions at the Milan Rho-Pero fair. These are two editions that were held at the same time as Bit (International Tourism Exchange) and with visitor permeability. Since 2014 the Event returns to Bologna where it is still located for this 29th edition.
